I can be wrong about the type of bird this is.
I was walking Kiko on a trail this afternoon when we came across this great egret feeding on a lizard. We don't really see this kind of bird in town, especially in part of the town that doesn't have any water. There are several creeks that run through town, but there wasn't any creeks nearby at all where I saw this bird.
Because this egret was somewhat distracted and occupied with eating, I was able to get within 100 feet from it. I didn't make any sudden, crazy moves that would scare it away either. It would usually fly away from something or someone that got too close. So it was nice to capture a photo of it.
